From The Dead

As a pastor's kid, struggling to get out of the shadow of my parents faith and find my own, I appreciate this book in its entirety! It's REAL. John Herrick does not try to gloss over real life to make this book fit a mold. I feel Jesse's pain, his anger, his disappointment, his disillusionment. He lets us see how Jesse runs and the struggles he faces. Thank you for this book.

It is not for the faint of heart. It does not skip the hard parts of life. It does not cover up the scandalous endeavors of the character. It shows mistakes made, regrets of the heart, and the determination to do work through issues of life without consulting the Highest Power.

Realistic Approach for Triumphs of Today

Currently living in LA but not from LA, I completely related to the narrator on many levels of his own experiences. It was difficult at times to put down, being to eager to find out what'll happen next. A roller-coaster of emotions with many ups and downs presents itself for the narrator. Definitely difficult to not develop empathy for the character, wondering just why and exactly how much more was he going to have to endure. This book contains a christian undertone, however, to me it presented very nonchalantly. Highly Recommended!!
